Serving individuals in Pinellas County who are blind or visually impaired

Volunteers make a difference

Volunteer

Are you interested in joining us as a volunteer?

Do you have a special interest, skill or hobby? Do you enjoy helping others? The Lighthouse of Pinellas is looking for volunteers to use their interests and skills to teach group classes in our Life Enrichment Program, to help with small projects around the agency, and for various office support.

Individuals in our Life Enrichment Program are older adults who are visually impaired or blind, have completed their rehabilitation programs and attend classes once a week to maintain their skills and explore new interests. Examples of past classes are Music Appreciation, Container Gardening, Creative Writing, Healthy Cooking, Beginning Spanish, and Current Events. Volunteer opportunities around the agency in the in office include everything from outside garden projects and painting to indoor office filing tasks.

We recently honored our 2007-2008 volunteers and acknowledged their dedication and commitment to our clients and mission, which are invaluable. It has been said that 'The difference between voyages rests not with the ships, but with the people you meet on them'. We know that our volunteers are an irreplaceable part of the success of our programs and services. Thank you to all who have served our clients!

We are always looking for people who have a heart for serving others to join us and share their gifts. Classes in our Life Enrichment Program start again in August; other volunteer opportunities are ongoing and available year-round.
