The Lighthouse of Pinellas (LHP) is seeking a full-time Receptionist. The successful candidate will provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient communications via phone and in person for all clients, staff, visitors, and guests of the Agency and provide clerical and administrative support for Agency staff. This position reports to the Office Manager. 

Lighthouse of Pinellas, a 61-year old non-profit in Largo, FL, changes the lives of individuals who are blind or visually impaired by offering a continuum of care addressing the physical, mental and social challenges associated with vision loss for the individual and their family.

Essential Functions:

  • Answer, screen, and transfer incoming calls, retrieve messages, and respond accordingly
  • Greet and assist visitors, clients, and guests
  • Maintain reception and adjacent areas in a professional manner
  • Maintain staff sign-in/-out log
  • Maintain office supplies, copier/fax machine, postage meter, and First Aid kits. Collect and order supplies as needed
  • Maintain and replenish janitorial supplies
  • Handle requests for information and data

  1. Open, sort and distribute incoming mail and packages
  2. Prepare outgoing mail
  3. Distribute incoming faxes and print jobs to employees
  4. Maintain agency and room scheduling calendars via Outlook
  5. Assist clients with photocopies/phone needs
  6. Assist Alumni program with calls to clients regarding upcoming events
  7. Receive event RSVPs as directed
  8. Respond to alumni questions
  9. Update Telephone Roster as needed
  10. Provide support to the Office Manager

Nonessential Functions: 

  • Support LHP’s fundraising efforts
  • Attend required Agency meetings and trainings
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum two years’ experience as a receptionist or related office experience

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies: 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Type 40 words per minute
  • Ability to answer and transfer calls on multi-line phone system
