Maintenance / Facilities Repairperson

The Lighthouse of Pinellas (LHP) is seeking a part-time Facilities Maintenance / Repairperson. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day facilities maintenance and repair. The position has a flexible day schedule up to 24 hours per week, and reports to the Office Manager.

Primary Responsibilities: 

Maintain the building and facilities in good operating condition. Maintain the grounds in a well-kept, professional manner. Ensure that the building and facilities are presentable and clean.

Essential Functions: 

  • Maintenance of facility. Utilizing the Maintenance Plan, complete tasks weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annually
    • Inspect and maintain interior, exterior and roof of building
    • Inspect and maintain grounds surrounding the building, including grass and flower beds
    • Perform preventative maintenance and facility repairs
    • Maintain and keep all equipment in good working order including kitchen
    • Keep supervisor appraised of necessary repairs or replacements that may require outside services
    • Ensure the inside of building is well-kept
  • Maintain necessary housekeeping and other agency supplies for janitorial service
  • Perform pick-ups and deliveries as requested
  • Set up rooms for meetings or special events held at the Agency
  • Attend required Agency meetings and trainings

Nonessential Functions: 

  • Support Agency’s fundraising efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Licensure or Certification: 

  • None

Experience: 

  • Three to five years working in maintenance or other related field

Demonstrated Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Basic carpentry skills
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and mechanical repairs
  • Working knowledge of general safety procedures
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders to gain access to roof and ceilings
  • Ability to work outside in temperatures at 90 degrees or above
  • Ability to stand and keep moving for at least two hours

Requirements: 

  • Pass Level II background check
  • Employee is responsible must have own transportation
  • If privately-owned motor vehicle is utilized for employment-related travel, the driver must possess a valid Florida driver’s license, good driving record, and proof of the following level of motor vehicle insurance: $100,000 / $300,000 bodily injury, $50,000 property damage, and work purposes endorsement
