Job Purpose:
- Solicit, cultivate and nurture financial support for agency with primary focus on areas of Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and Major Gifts. Manage and supervise a team of development professionals.
Essential Functions:
- Implement, coordinate and manage an annual giving program to ensure resources for the agency’s ongoing programs and services.
- Implement, coordinate and manage a major gift program to move income gifts to gifts of assets for the agency’s special program projects and annual capital.
- Work with Executive Director to organize and manage the agency’s planned giving program to increase the agency’s foundation assets. This includes cultivating prospects for charitable gift annuities and bequests, managing the activities of the planned giving committee and assisting with recruitment efforts.
- Provide support, documentation and follow-up for legacy gifts made to the agency.
- Manage and coordinate efforts of the development team to ensure retention and revenue generation.
- Maintain consistent personal contact with current donors, prospects, committee members and Board of Directors.
- Review all media/press/web site materials before they are released and work with the Grants and Community Outreach Manager to cultivate new media contacts and increase awareness efforts.
- Work with the special events/volunteer coordinator to increase donor engagement through event activities.
Nonessential Functions:
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to foster an environment of team work within the development department and possess leadership qualities as part of the agency’s management team.
- Provide Agency tours as necessary.
- Maintain current gift acceptance policies and procedures. Maintain a data base of all donors and prospective donors and community liaisons. Update data base regularly and maintain constituent input policies for reporting purposes.
- Create and present monthly reports for President & CEO and Vice President & COO
- Ability to recruit, manage and lead the agency’s development and planned giving committees.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, business or other related areas.
Experience:
- Five years experience in development and fund raising, CFRE desired.
- Experience in developing and implementing an annual fund campaign, planned giving and major gifts programs.
- Experience in managing and supervising support staff.
- Experience working for an agency providing services to the developmentally disabled desired.
Demonstrated Skills:
- Working knowledge of database programs, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
- Working knowledge of fund raising software. Razor’s Edge preferred.
- Working knowledge of basic office machines
Physical Demands:
- Ability to travel and visit donors in home, offices and public spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Public speaking experience.
Requirements:
- Pass background checks
- Employee is responsible for timely transportation to and from all community based instruction, training, education, and presentations.
- If privately owned motor vehicle is utilized for employment-related travel, the driver must possess a valid Florida driver’s license, good driving record, and proof of the following level of motor vehicle insurance: $100,000 / $300,000 bodily injury, $50,000 property damage, and work purposes endorsement.
