Serving individuals in Pinellas County who are blind or visually impaired

Supporting the Lighthouse of Pinellas

Donating to Lighthouse of Pinellas

With your support, at Lighthouse of Pinellas,
all we see is possibility!

Lighthouse of Pinellas is the county's only private not-for-profit agency serving individuals with severe vision loss. Each day, we help to advance the independence and opportunities of people of all ages – children to adults - who are blind or visually impaired. The majority of our services are offered at no charge to our clients based on a contract with the Division of Blind Services. However, the contract does not meet the entire financial need necessary for operating the agency and providing these necessary programs and services to our community.

Each year we depend upon the generous support of individuals, businesses, civic and social organizations, charitable foundations, and other donations to help us serve the needs of individuals in Pinellas County who are blind or visually impaired. We need YOUR help!

Your gift of support…

  • Helps to ensure that programs such as our Diabetic Management classes can continue to enlighten and educate adults with varying stages of diabetic retinopathy about creating healthy meals, controlling portions, counting carbohydrates, and utilizing ‘talking products’ such as blood pressure monitors, scales, and glucose meters;
  • Helps support the training services that enable our senior adults to maintain their ability to live independently in their own home and move safely about in their community;
  • Helps support the programs in which our teenagers learn the necessary skills to transition from living at home and attending high school to living independently and attending college or entering the world of work;
  • Helps provide a program in which a child can receive the critical early intervention therapies that will assist them in reaching developmental milestones such as sitting up, walking and learning to feed themselves.
  • Can be made as a TRIBUTE GIFT to help celebrate a memorable person or occasion. A MEMORIAL GIFT may also be made to honor a loved one who has passed away. In each case the individual or family named by the donor will receive an acknowledgement letter notifying them a gift has been made in their honor – the amount of the gift is kept confidential.
  • Can be made by CREDIT CARD, CHECK, STOCK, PLEDGE or through a PLANNED GIFT. Online donations can be made securely via PayPal.

Increase the value of your gift!

  • Did you know that you may be able to double the amount of your gift? Many companies will match the gifts their employees make to qualifying non-profit organizations. If your company has a matching gift program, you can increase the value of your gift to Lighthouse of Pinellas. Please check with your company payroll department about this opportunity.
  • Lighthouse of Pinellas is a participating charity in the Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities community fundraiser associated with the Transitions Championship PGA Golf Tournament. As a qualifying charity, Lighthouse of Pinellas receives a percentage of the “Bonus Pool” funds for every paid pledge or donation made to the Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities on behalf of Lighthouse of Pinellas.

    The proceeds are used as “seed money” for Transitions Championship Golf Tournament for initial expenses. After the tournament, the funds are paid in full – PLUS a percentage of the Bonus Pool funds – to the charity that was named in the original donation. The percentage of Bonus Pool funds received by a charity is directly related to the amount of paid pledge donations have been made on their behalf by the deadline.

    The 2010 Birdies for Charity will be held March 18-21, 2010, at the Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club. The 2010 Birdies Pledge Card can be downloaded here. Please print and mail the completed card to:

    Transitions Championship, 36750 US 19 N., Palm Harbor, FL 34684.

    Pledged payments must be received by March 15th, 2010
